How to combat self-criticism 👊

Self criticism can impact your 🧠. Constant self -criticism influences the brain’s stress response, which can lead to increase anxiety, depression, negative self talk, and low self esteem 😞


Self criticism is important to challenge because often time that critical voice is actually messages we received from past experiences or trauma. Your inner critic may sound like you but truly is the voice of another.


Self criticism originates in our early relationships. Parents who may have high standards. We may have compared ourselves to our siblings or peers, who may do better at school, sports or just appear superior. Teachers or coaches who have rigid damands. Friendships that are driven by competition and comparison. All these things influence our inner dialogue.


How do you combat that internal voice that echoes the voices of those we heard and listened to over the years?!


Well….Challenging self criticism: 👊


Reframe > if a thoughts feels harsh or disempowering, reframe it to either a neutral or positive thought 💭


Affirmations > practice giving yourself compassion. Self compassion increases the brains soothing system & promotes emotional balance. Affirmations allow you to be that soothing and comforting voice.


Create DONE ✔️ list instead of TO-DO lists📋 > instead of criticizing yourself for all the things you should’ve done, identify the things you completed and accomplished. This will help you find the positive rather than pointing of the negative.🤍


Don’t let your inner critic put you down! 🥊
