No amount of guilt can change the past, and no amount of anxiety can change your future.




Radical Acceptance…


Sometimes we can experience an undesirable situation that won’t change, which can cause us intense emotions of anxiety, frustration and stress. Not getting a certain grade on a test. Not getting the job we applied for. Not getting that promotion at work. We don’t like it or approve of it but allowing ourselves to accept our current situation can give us the opportunity for peace in our life.


Ultimately, our perspective on a situation reinforces our positive and negative thoughts. For example, not getting the job we desire can lead to thoughts of “I can never get what I want,” or “I will never get a job.” These thoughts fuel our insecurities and anxieties.

Instead of saying “I will never get a job” change your thought to accepting the reality of the situation. “I did not get the job but there are other jobs I can apply for.”


Which statement sounds more accurate?


Radical Acceptance acknowledges that we have choices and sometimes it comes down to whether or not we are going to the accept the reality of a situation.


Yes, you did not get the job of your dreams and it’s okay you feel sad about it. Accepting the reality of the situation allows us to pick ourselves back up and keep reaching for our goals.

We can either chose to stay miserable or accept the reality, so we can continue to fuel that fire which got us motivated in the first place.

Life is full of wonderful gifts but also disappointments. If we never experience the bad moments, we would never know how to appreciate the good moments
